LEASE MANAGEMENT LED BY JAMES KAFIEH, C.G.A.

James Kafieh, C.G.A., M.B.A.: James is currently a Partner with McKenzie & Associates.

Prior to McKenzie, Mr. Kafieh was a Controller of Cost Recovery for Footlocker, Inc.; under his leadership the team produced millions of dollars of recoveries and go-forward savings. Previously to GM, Mr. Kafieh also worked for General Motors Corp., Kraft Foods Inc., and Helene Curtis Industries, Inc. (Unilever Group). His responsibilities ranged from P&L Analysis to Sales Finance Supervisor, overseeing Trade Funds, A/R, A/P, Accounting Controls, and Cost Center Budgeting, to Financial/Marketing Analyst. He participated in product launches, supplier negotiations, sales forecasting, sales quota analysis, and focus group management.

Mr. Kafieh has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in Finance and a minor in Operations Management, from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada). In addition, Mr. Kafieh is a Certified General Accountant (C.G.A.); the C.G.A. is an internationally recognized professional accounting designation. Mr Kafieh’s knowledge and expertise in lease-based expenses and managing landlord/tenant relationships is recognized and respected throughout the industry, which is why he is frequently asked to speak and teach courses at national conferences. In 2007 James returned to the NRTA (www.retailtenants.org) convention to give two courses:

  • Managing Those Energy Charges (OC-13)
